Preparation for the first lesson
Prehistory

Preparing for this lesson, you must fully read the book of Acts. Write down the basic information on the author, the date of writing, the readers and the historical and theological situation.

Then read the second chapter of the book of Acts and write down the main points of Peter's sermon.

This lesson consists of three sections:

I. Authorship
II. Historical circumstances
III. Theological Foundation

OBJECTIVES AND OBJECTIVES OF THE FIRST LESSON OF

OBJECTIVES

In this lesson we would like to achieve the following:

1. We hope that you will have a desire to thoroughly study the historical and theological situation of the book of Acts.
2. We hope that you will use the resources of this lesson and learn the basic information about the historical and theological situation in the book of Acts.
3. We hope that you will begin to apply the basic teachings of the book of Acts in your life, and use it for a detailed study of the biblical texts, as well as the modern worldview.

CHALLENGES

When you fulfill the requirements below, the objectives of the lesson will be achieved:

1. Use all resources and follow all the written tasks of the lesson, expressing your opinion and attitude to the historical and theological situation of the book of Acts.
2. Receive satisfactory grades for the automatically assessed tasks of the lesson, thereby showing that you can identify the basic information related to the author, the date of writing, the target audience and the historical context of the book of Acts.
3. Fill in the questionnaire for the lesson in which to conduct a study of Peter's sermon from the second chapter of the book of Acts, analyze the modern song in the light of the teachings of the book of Acts, and tell what effect this lesson had on you personally.

NOTE ON GREEK LANGUAGE AND HEBREW

From time to time in the lecture materials of this course will come across words from the Greek language or Hebrew. Do not worry about this, since knowledge of these languages ​​is not necessary for this course. Moreover, when using words in Greek or Hebrew (in the working tetral, glossary or test), their transliteration will be presented (in Russian letters). However, it would be useful, at least, to get acquainted with the alphabet of biblical languages ​​and the way of their transliteration.
